The tallest tower in town is the International Commerce Centre (ICC) in Kowloon, home to the Sky100 Observation Deck.
Located on the 100th floor of the 12th tallest building in the world, Sky100 is 393 metres above sea level. It is also the only indoor observation deck in Hong Kong that can provide uninterrupted 360’ views.
The ticket centre is on the 1/F, though it’s cheaper to buy online. Adult tickets are HK$138.00 online, while walk-in tickets are HK$198.00. Children and seniors can get in for HK$89.00 if booked online, or HK$128.00 each if purchased at the ticket booth on the day.
Once you’re ready to go, high-speed elevators make your ears pop as they rise to the 100th floor in less than 30 seconds.
The views from the deck truly are unrivaled, and a series of light boxes, maps and illustrations help you figure out what you’re looking at.
It is easy to spot the major sights, like the Star Ferry below, Victoria Peak in the distance, the wide expanse of Kowloon behind you, and a smattering of Outlying Islands in the distance.
It’s best to go on a clear day, as a rainy or a ‘foggy’ (i.e. polluted) day paints the sky in grey layers and limits visibility.
Though the views from Victoria Peak are without a doubt the best in town, visiting Sky100 gives you a different perspective, as it faces towards Hong Kong Island, while Victoria Peak faces towards Kowloon.
If you’re feeling hungry, the observation deck has a little eatery, Cafe 100 by The Ritz-Carlton, which is also housed in the ICC. Down at ground level, on 2nd Floor, there’s another cafe, Fuel Espresso, where you can have coffee, espresso, lattes, and sweet treats like cakes and pastries.
Sky100 has a number of ticket packages that offer discounts, but one of the more useful ones is the Night Package for 2, where you and a companion can enter after 6pm for just HK$240.00. Discount tickets can be booked online.
Bonus tip: The ICC is also home to the tallest bar in Hong Kong and the second tallest in the world: Ozone, located on the 118th floor, and part of the Ritz-Carlton hotel. However, if you go, you will need to at least order a drink, but with prices like HK$100.00 for a ginger ale and HK$120.00 for a Corona, it’s better to just go to Sky100.
