This month sees the Hungry Ghost Festival, a traditional festival devoted to honouring ancestors. The Hong Kong Sake Festival is back in town, as well as a whole bunch of fairs at Wan Chai's Convention and Exhibition Centre to get your shopping in. Meanwhile, Hong Kong Disneyland gets a Pixar makeover, and the city is feeling oh so bubbly. Food and Beverage Hong Kong Sake Festival You don't have to travel to Japan to sample sake (although it wouldn't hurt). This is one of the biggest sake festivals in town, complete with regional sake from some of the most sought after breweries, multilingual sessions led by the who's who of the sake world, and snacks. Exhibitions and Fairs Hong Kong Cat Expo Cat people, clear the calendar: the Hong Kong Cat Expo returns to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from July 31 to August 2, 2026, bringing together hundreds of exhibitors for three days of feline-themed shopping, art, talks, music and performances. This year’s theme is “Wild West Cowcat” -- we love to see it. Purchase tickets online here. Hong Kong Food Expo Head to Wan Chai's Exhibition and Convention Centre for a food extravaganza. Expect to see booths showcasing distinctive, specialty foods from various parts of the world, including but not limited to Indonesia, Aomori, Chongqing, Sichuan, Hubei, Heilongjiang, and beyond. Alongside the Food Expo, two other exciting public fairs will be running concurrently. Get all your shopping done at once. HKTDC Beauty & Wellness Expo Also held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, explore the HKTDC Beauty & Wellness Expo, featuring cosmetics, skincare, haircare, and fitness products. Enjoy exclusive shopping, special offers, and expert sessions. Arts and Culture International Arts Carnival The annual International Arts Carnival attracts world-class performing arts groups from across the globe. This year, there will be family-friendly performances by artists from Australia, Spain, South Korea, and more. Highlights from past years have included a hybrid ballet and theatre production, an orchestra mixing humour with classical music, and an immersive dance theatre experience designed to amuse and delight babies. Family-friendly Bubble Planet Hong Kong Bubble Planet Hong Kong is a large indoor attraction at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal built around bubbles, light effects and oversized play spaces. The 11 themed rooms include ball pits, inflatable installations, mirrored areas, an underwater-style LED room, a giant bubble visitors can step inside, a VR experience and a hot-air-balloon simulator. This is a solid family-friendly pick for a weekend. Pixar Summer Fest Pixar Summer Fest gives Hong Kong Disneyland a seasonal Pixar takeover, with characters, parades and a few extra reasons to linger after dark. The daytime programme includes the returning Pixar Water Play Street Party, where spectators should expect to get splashed, alongside the Friendtastic! Parade, featuring Pixar characters on themed floats. There are also meet-and-greets, drawing sessions at the Animation Academy and, in the evening, the Pixar Pals Spectacular, an eight-minute show combining drones, projections and music.
