Bakehouse is a cafe/bakery that does brisk morning business offering a range of sourdough bread, baguettes, croissants and other pastries as well as cooked breakfasts and cereal.
Morning pastries range from HK$18.00 for a croissant through to HK$42.00 for a frangipane tart. The sit-down breakfast menu features granola and yogurt, soirdough french toast, scrambled eggs, avocado toast and also a big bacon and eggs English style breakfast (with sourdough toast). Prices range from HK$68.00 to HK$118.00. Coffees are from HK$25.00 to HK$38.00. In addition to coffees they serve cold pressed juices, some interesting iced teas and sodas as well as a wide selection of hot teas. If your after a wee bit of hair of the dog, the breakfast menu even includes cocktails and craft beer for HK$59.00 (cocktails HK$88.00).
In a restored brick building, the decor is modern and stylish. Service is quick and efficient if not overly friendly. On a recent visit, the pastries were crispy on the outside and beautifully moist on the inside. The espresso based frothy milk drink was also nicely balanced.
Note that the counter is for takeout – go in and get a seat first if you want to dine in.
