Get ready for the reddest and most bearded event in Hong Kong — the annual SantaCon.
What is SantaCon?
SantaCon, which is short for Santa Convention, is a pub crawl like no other. SantaCon events take place all over the world, with more than 400 events in 397 cities across 52 countries. The event is adult-only, as it goes all night and visits a number of watering holes, so don’t bring your kids.
What happens?
Hundreds of Santas, Mrs. Santas, elves, reindeer, and other Christmas personnel come out in full costume and paint the town red. If you don’t have a full Santa suit, at least wear something red and a Santa hat, though more creative Christmas costumes are more than welcome.
How much?
The event is free, but it does raise money for a good cause. Donations are welcome and will go to this year’s chosen charity.
SantaCon 2022
This year, the Santas will meet in Central and visit a number of venues, using different forms of transportation. You never know where you’ll go or how you’ll get there — on the Star Ferry? Perhaps a ride on the historic Tram? Down into the bowels of the MTR? There’s only one way to find out! The route is always announced the night before to keep the mystery alive.
