This July, there's an array of events for all ages and interests. From Disneyland's Pixar takeover and the region's biggest and buzziest anime and manga event, to celebrating HKSAR Establishment Day with a tonne of freebies, expect to be busy! Festivals HKSAR Establishment Day HKSAR Establishment Day commemorates the day of the handover. This year, it falls on a Wednesday. As in past years, that means a variety of free services: think free tram and Star Ferry rides, as well as access to top exhibitions on display around the city, including the M+ and Hong Kong Museum of Science. Pixar Summer Fest at Hong Kong Disneyland Hong Kong Disneyland is going full Pixar this summer. Pixar Summer Festsees Toy Story’s Green Army Men turning Main Street into a splash zone, to Carl, Russell and Dug from Up floating by in the Friendtastic Parade. You’ll spot Mei from Turning Red, Miguel from Coco and Merida from Brave, alongside Woody, Buzz and Jessie. SummerFest SummerFest is an annual festival that takes place along the harbourfront. Especially great for families, expect plenty of sports, games, and musical performances to liven up your weekends this summer. Exhibitions and Fairs City of Lights: Hong Kong’s Neon Heritage at Blue Lotus Gallery Nostalgic for the glow of old Hong Kong? City of Lights: Hong Kong’s Neon Heritage is a free exhibition at Blue Lotus Gallery in Sheung Wan of Keith Macgregor’s photographs, pulling you back into the city’s neon-soaked nights of the 1990s and early 2000s. Dollism Plus Hong Kong Appreviate the artistry and beauty of dolls at Dollism Plus, a unique event that brings together doll enthusiasts from around the world. The event allows doll lovers to get together and explore the latest trends, as well as take part in exclusive showcases and interactive activities. Arts and Culture International Arts Carnival The annual International Arts Carnival attracts world-class performing arts groups from across the globe. This year, there will be family-friendly performances by artists from Australia, Spain, South Korea, and more. Highlights include a new ballet theatre production, an orchestra mixing humour with classical music, and an immersive dance theatre experience designed to amuse and delight babies. Taking place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center in Wan Chai, the four-day event has featured a cosplay contest, an anime figure design competition, an original comic contest and more in past years.
