The Shi Fu Miz Festival is only a few years old, but is quickly making a name for itself as a new and original entry into in Hong Kong’s growing electronic music scene.Born out of a common desire to offer a modern and creative cultural outlet in Hong Kong, this festival is a collaboration between Hong Kong-based creative agency FuFu and Parisian DJ collective and event organizer La Mamie’s. Together, they bring in a variety of eclectic bands, world music, and DJs, plus lots of activities that focus on art, spirit, and well being.
The scenic island of Cheung Chau is once again the chosen site for the two-day event, held at the lush 11-acre Sai Yuen Camping Adventure Park. This year has another excellent lineup of performances:
- May 4th (Saturday): Levon Vincent, Awesome Tapes From Africa, Shuya Okino, KAMMA & Masalo, Seoul Community Radio presents Jesse You, Pablo Valentino, YETI OUT Showcase, Jarod Escaped, DJ Rork b2b Dj Fudge, Romi, UTOPIA
- May 5th (Sunday): Palms Trax, Orpheu The Wizard, La Mamie’s, Kuniyuki Takahashi, Seoul Community Radio presents Yuzo, ROAM Selectors, Pomegranate Sounds, Ivan Sit, Reba
In addition to the music, there will be yoga, street art, and workshops, as well as eco-friendly activities, such as beach clean-ups, which they say are not mandatory, but will result in the reward of a free beer.
You can choose either the 1-day or 2-day tickets, and what’s particularly fun about this festival is that if you want to attend both days, you can camp out at Sai Yuen Farm, either in your own tent, or in one of their geodesic star-gazing domes or safari tents. Kids under the age of 12 are free, making it a family-friendly event too.
Tickets are available on Eventbrite, where you can also book accommodation for the night. If all their glamping tents are booked, be sure to read our Guide to Cheung Chau, which has lots of alternative places to stay for the night.
