Love Hong Kong crime cinema? Don’t miss this exhibition in Kowloon.
What to expect
Hong Kong cinema is iconic — especially crime films such as A Better Tomorrow (1986) and Infernal Affairs (2002), which captured the pulse of city life in the 1970s and 80s. The Old Yau Ma Tei Police Station, built in 1922 in Edwardian style, has long served as a cinematic backdrop for these classics. Now, the venue is hosting an immersive exhibition.
Step into rarely accessible areas of the station, including detention cells and operational rooms, reimagined by film art designers. A Cinematic Journey recreates the atmosphere of classic cop films through walk‑through sets, rare memorabilia, original scripts, and creative installations.
Pro tip: While you’re in the area, check out the Yau Ma Tei Dining and Shopping Festival, from January 1 to February 22.
