Hong Kong’s oysters once built underwater cities. Now, there’s a movement to bring them back.
What to expect

This free exhibition by environmental nonprofit The Nature Conservancy shines a spotlight on Hong Kong’s vanishing oyster reefs, which historically flourished in Deep Bay and around Lantau Island. These biodiverse ecosystems provided not just a habitat for marine life but also natural coastal defences and a vital part of local heritage, including centuries-old oyster farming practices still found in Lau Fau Shan.
Through interactive displays, VR experiences, and community-led restoration stories, Reviving Hong Kong’s Ocean Heritage reconnects us with a legacy that’s quietly slipping away.
