The exhibition traces how fantasy has shaped Asian art from the nineteenth century to the present, revealing its role as a creative response to shifting sociopolitical conditions.
Unfolding across four chapters, the exhibition moves from pre‑modern traditions such as Japanese ukiyo‑e prints, Indonesian shadow puppetry, and Buddhist scrolls to twentieth‑century developments like Surrealism and the rise of manga and anime. It culminates in the global spread of fantastical aesthetics across art, design, film, fashion, and digital culture, showing how fantasy continues to move fluidly across disciplines in the twenty‑first century.

Entry to the exhibition is included with standard museum admission. Museum tickets cost HK$190.00 for adults and HK$100.00 for concessions, with special combo options also available.
How to get there
M+ Museum is located in the West Kowloon Cultural District.
- By MTR: Head to Kowloon Station (Exit E4) or Austin Station (Exit A), and follow signs for about a 10–15 minute walk.
- By ferry: The WestK Ferry provides a direct and scenic eight‑minute ride that connects Central Pier 9 with WestK Quay. Operating daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and until 11 p.m. on weekends and public holidays. Single journey ticket: HK$20.00 (adult) and HK$10.00 (concessions).
