Hong Kong isn’t just Hong Kong Island. There are loads of tiny outlying islands, and this festival celebrates them.
What happens?
From Peng Chau to Mui Wo, Chi Ma Wan, and Cheung Chau, the Inter-island Festival highlights the connections between communities shaped by the sea.
There will be performances, workshops, tours, exhibitions, and conversations led by local residents and artists across 4 weekends. Each activity explores the traditions and stories of island life.
The previous two editions in 2021 and 2023 saw more than 50 collaborators coming together to host over 70 incredibly varied events with 10,000 people helping celebrate the creativity and resilience of these precious island communities.
For the 2026 edition, the Inter-island Festival is crowdfunding to remain community-driven and independent of off-island corporate sponsorship. If you’d like to support, the campaign is available here.
Tickets
Admission details and ticketing information will be available closer to the festival dates. Past editions have included free and ticketed events, so early booking is recommended once programmes are announced.
