Hong Kong hotels are typically known for being on the more luxurious (aka expensive) end of the scale, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t cater for families. In fact, many of them go the extra mile with themed rooms, family packages and enticing activities. HK is also a fantastic city to explore with kids and offers a wide range of family friendly activities. So whether you’re looking to book your next staycation or you’re visiting Hong Kong for the first time, here are a few of our favourite family-friendly hotels.
Hong Kong Disneyland hotel
Kicking things off with perhaps the most obvious option is of course, the HK Disneyland hotel. Adjacent to Disneyland itself (with its own private park entrance), the hotel is perfectly located to be able to spend the day exploring, go back to the hotel for dinner in the Enchanted Garden (where Disney characters bounce between tables) and head back out to the park to watch the light and firework show (if you have any energy left!).
From family friendly dining options and room decoration packages, to a giant Mickey Mouse shaped garden maze and a 40 metre water slide, The Disneyland hotel is truly magical and it’s hard not to get wrapped up in the excitement, whether you’re a big or small kid.

Gold Coast Hotel
Hong Kong’s only beach front resort, the Gold Coast hotel is somewhat of an institution among family friendly hotels. From its surrounding grounds to the rooms, the hotel management has thought of it all. Water slides, a sharks and pirates adventure zone, crazy golf, a water park, a mini train ride, outdoor bowling — the list goes on! There are nine themed rooms to choose from (and they really go all out with each theme) so whether your kids are dino obsessed or prefer sleeping surrounded by outer space, there is a room for everyone.

The Salisbury — YMCA Hong Kong
The Salisbury YMCA is an excellent mid range option for families looking to perhaps save a few pennies on accommodation to spend elsewhere in HK. Several rooms offer incredible harbour views and its prime location means that it’s only a 5 minute walk from the nearest MTR station and just a couple of minutes away from the Star Ferry, making it ideal for exploring the nearby attractions and for getting over to the Hong Kong Island side.
The hotel’s list of facilities is impressive with basketball and squash courts, a rock climbing wall, an indoor swimming pool, and a fully equipped gym. There are two onsite restaurants but if these don’t tickle your family’s fancy then pretty much every other cuisine is available a short walk from your doorstep.
A couple of family suites are available that can comfortably sleep 4 or more without feeling too cramped. Seasonal promotions are often available.
